Mariama, our inaugural grant recipient, is more than a remarkable athlete; she's a symbol of empowerment and inspiration. Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, her love for basketball ignited at a young age, with her talent evident from the start.
Mariama's extraordinary achievements, both on the court, where she consistently ranks among the league's top performers, and off the court, where she actively supports her community, showcase the essence of excellence that The Women's Basketball Fund aims to promote in women's basketball.

Jade Hunt is a 5’4” Point/Shooting Guard who was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec.
Raised by her Grand-Mother, Jade never had easy, but never complained. She always took obstacles as opportunities and made her way through every aspect of life with pride.
Jade is always with a smile on her face and try to have an impact on people around her. In her Senior year at Dawson College, one of the most respected programs in Quebec, Jade averaged 26 min a game, 11.1 pts (best score in the team), 6.3 rebounds (she is 5’4”!!) and 2.3 steals. These stats and her desire to always fight for her team awarded her a recognition for 2nd Team All-Star in the RSEQ.Jade worked every summer at basketball camps giving back to her communities and to younger girls aspiring to be the next one on the court. She also volunteered at her church Food Bank and create clothing for fun.Her 1st academic year in Visual Arts was a success as she passed all her classes and her 1st year at Windsor University (was one the best USports basketball program in Canada) saw her finishing with 15 minutes, 5 pts, 3 rebs per game and helped her team going to the semi-finals of the OUA, losing to the future winner. We are very proud and excited to see you growing with us Jade!
